River "We were seeking to fill a void left by the passing of an old, beloved pet, when I was shown a picture of eight berner puppies lined up on a hearth; I knew I had stumbled across something special. Not sure how my allergies (or cat) would tolerate the breed, Doug was flexible with us to “try her out” for a short trial, and the rest is history. The adoption process, itself was super-easy; Doug had all of the paperwork prepared for our arrival – the contract plus AKC, veterinary and microchip records - plus a bag of assorted snacks, toys, and treats to get us started. River is super-tolerant of my 7- and 9-year old daughters, and loves to play with them outside (followed soon thereafter by a power-nap!) We couldn’t be happier with the breed; River is a perfect fit for our family, and her beauty and charm make her an instant celebrity wherever she goes. We would highly recommend Sycamore Valley to anyone considering a Bernese Mountain Dog for a family pet!" The Stille Family |
Charnley "Our experience with the adoption process could not have been smoother. The process and transition to our care was exceptional. We felt prepared to take Charnley home with all necessary information and with the least amount of interruption to his daily routine. We would absolutely use the Savage family again and we hope to see them again when we need another furry addition to the family." Meg and Kris Collins |
Melvin "Melvin is my first ever dog, and my first experience with a Berner, and it has been such a wonderful experience! They make you feel right at home. They were very knowledgeable, informative, and welcoming, always willing to set up visits with your puppy prior to the pickup time. Valley Bernese Mountain Dogs take exceptional care of their puppies, and are an invaluable source of information and support as you raise your new dog. I will absolutely be staying in touch with Doug and his family, and hope they breed for many years to come! " Sydney Watsek |

I could not have asked for a better experience when it came to adopting our Berner. Doug and Cathy were incredible! They were quick to respond to our emails and questions and when we got to visit the pups they let us bring our Great Pyrenees Alfred along with us. Our puppy is healthy, happy, and full of energy. We are so happy and grateful to have this new puppy in our lives. When looking to adopt a Berner, I would definitely recommend going through Doug and Cathy! Katie Clark |

I was cautious when we started our search for a Bernese Mountain dog. I knew we would need to find a breeder, and I have always preferred rescuing a dog from a shelter. Some breeders we found clearly took short cuts to maximize their profits, while others wanted access to our home to ensure it contained the right energy. When we found the Savage’s, it was a breath of fresh air. Their home and farm were beautiful and clean, their animals were well loved, and Doug has been extremely easy to work with. Our puppy quite literally attracts a crowd of people when we walk her - like people cross the street to pet her. We love our dog, and would recommend this experience to our closest friends. Our experience with Doug and his family at Sycamore Valley Bernese Mountain Dogs could not have been better. This is our third Berner and we were looking for a sweet, gentle dog similar to one that we lost last year. Doug spent a lot of time with us and the puppies as we could not decide! They were all adorable. He was able to give us some insight into the personalities of each puppy. Once we decided he kept us up to date with photos and information about the puppy until she was ready to come home with us. At Christmas we received a photo Christmas card from our puppy. When it came time to pick her up she was freshly bathed - she was a sweet smelling ball of fluff! With her we received a special handmade blanket with the mother’s scent, a toy, a training collar and puppy food to get us started. All came in a personalized tote back with the puppy’s name on it. Our Sadie is a wonderful sweet puppy. She is confident and not shy or fearful. I believe this is a direct result of the love and care she received form Doug and his family before she came to us. We are thrilled to have her as part of our family now. The Visco Family |
